Vegas on a coin flip!

When a heads-up lasts forever, only a coin flip will do...

French ace Waswini back under the spotlight!

After his recent success in qualifying for PKR Live IV, he last night booked his ticket to Vegas with victory over a 22-runner field in the WSOP Final Stage satellite. A true heads up poker battle took place between the Frenchman and 2008 WSOP Main Event qualifier Lesstax2pay which seemed destined to never end, but as it so often the case, a coin flip eventually decided the winner.

Congratulations on becoming the third name on the teamsheet for PKR's trip to the 2010 WSOP. How does it feel?

Awesome!! Not only is the package great, but for me it means going to Vegas for the first time. I was hoping to go this year and now I have booked my seat. Yesssss!

Like japete you managed to qualify for both PKR Live IV and the WSOP Experience. Why are you so good at satellites? Give us a tip for players who are trying hard to qualify...

I don't know! I am usually quite successful in satellites (indeed Waswini twice travelled to Macau courtesy of PKR satellites, and qualified for PKR Live I, II & III!). All I can tell is that you have to adapt your game to the number of tickets available. If there are several tickets, you can play like in a standard tournament and get involved in some pots here and there without risking too much of your stack. But if there's only one ticket, you have to play for the win, which means play aggressively and not scared.

Same question we asked to japete recently: Would you prefer a first place at PKR Live IV ($20K) or 20th place in WSOP Event #54 ($20K)?

Hard question! PKR's Community is so great that you really want to get to the top and a victory at PKR Live can help. But I still don't have any big performance in my live tournament CV, I want this to change!

You played a very patient game in the WSOP Final Stage, especially during the HU match, which lasted more than an hour, a great HU match to watch. What did you feel when the king hit the river on the final hand (A-K v 9-9 all-in pre flop)?

It was an intense HU game against Lesstax2pay, very hard mentally, with a lot of ups and downs. When the blinds got to 1250/2500 I decided to play more aggressively and we went all-in pre-flop with two nice hands. I was leading in chips at that time, but had I lost that pot, it would have been difficult to come back. So it was like a coin flip to Vegas! I couldn't watch the screen, I was calling the king very loud and it came!

What are your expectations in terms of poker success, this year?

A good live result. And why not? A huge live result!

Vegas is famed for many things - among them gambling, poker, nightlife, great food, unforgettable shows, stunning pools, beautiful people and the blazing sunshine. Which are you looking forward to the most, and what's the first thing you'll do when you arrive?

Parties! In Macau we partied a lot and I have to say poker came second to the parties...(but remember zlatan35 won the Main Event - lol) so it was a great trip in Asia. I am sure it will be even better in Vegas! I think I will play as much as I can, side events and satellites to maximise the chances to get a result. I am so looking forward to it!

Waswini, we wish you the very best of luck! Make sure you stay in touch and report back from Sin City!
